THE UNITED SERVICES.

The Council of the Churches having failed to arrange with the authorities for an evening- service, has resolved to'hold two united religious son-ices on Saturday morning. These services will be held in First Church and St. Matthew's. The former (First Church) will begin at 8.30, the latter (St. Matthew's) at 8.45. Both will close at 9.30 sharp. ■ The executive of the council, deeming it a, most desirable thing that at these services the civil authorities-should come into line with the churches, approached the Organising Committee, with a view to securing their presence at the gatherings. The committee has accepted the invitation, and representatives will be present at both clrarches. In accepting they wrote: "We trust that the community will lend their hearty, support to your movement. It would bo a fitting prelude to the day's proceedings." A united choir in each church will lead the praise. In St. Matthew's the Revs. W. Curzon-Siggers, Bow<den; and Mayne will officiate. Details of First Church service will be notified in'a future advertisement. The order of service, hymns, etc., will be printed in a tasteful booklet form, of which a copy will be presented to each worshipper at both churches. A collection will be made, which, after defraying expenses, will be handed to the Organising Committee for the'contingent or patriotic fund, as they may determine. ' ' . ■
