MUSSEL BAY RAILWAY STATION,

TO TUB EDITOR,

Sin, —It is surprising to note how little attention seems to be paid in the economics of the authorities to the convenience of tbu travelling public on the Port Chalmers railway live. The latest injustice is tlv? removal of the Mussel Bsj station, which has been transplanted to a spot where is is neither of use nor ornament. The station is used almost solely by persons living on the Peninsula side of the railway line, and for them the former site was very handy; but now they are compelled to cross the line to go to and fro, drop a distance of several feet in order to alight (unless the carriage they are iv happens to stop exactly opposite the mound doing duty for a platform), and then wait for some time for the train to pass before reaching the road.

Why have not our local civic authorities moved in the matter ? Perhaps they deem it unwise to approach the footstool so soon after having dared to supplicate so rich a blessing as a reduced tariff. At any rate I trust that some steps will be taken to have the Hubject brought under the notice of the commissioners, as ifc certainly is most unjust that the convenience of passengers should be so consistently ignored.— I am, &c.,

Constant Traveller. Port Chalmers, March 18.
