WAIHEMO COUNTY COUNCIL.

The ordinary meeting of this County Council took place on Tuesday in tlw Council Chambers, Pal-mei-stoii, when there were present Cr=> T. Dent, J. n. mover, C. S. Hay, T. Muir, A. M'Laren, aud J. K. Robertson.

Cr M'Laren was appointed clmirmau in the absence or Cr Dell, who had been called nwAy to Sydney to attend tho Rabbit Commission there.

DEPUTATION. Air P. M'Leod, Waihemo, appeared to urge upon the council the necessity of forming a road to give him access to run 52, and called attention to the tact that during the 12 months he had been in possession of the land not a penny had been spent, although moneys hud been accruing from tho land and received by the council for that purpose. There were no engiueeriiiß difficulties in the way of forming tho roftd, nor would it take an unreasonable sum to make it, as could be ascertained from the inspector's report. He explained that his freehold and leasehold were only separated by a small stream, and yet it too,; throe days with ;i <3ray to t;o from one prop^rtv to the other and back a H aui. He therefore asked the couucil to expend the moneys received from his own payments in improving his menus of communication.—The council resolved to e:dl for tenders lor the work by next meeting.

At Pigroot the workmen had been removing boulders, fixing up culverts, clearing entrances to same and table drains in Mam rond. Near the Greon Valley accommodation house there was six chains of new formed road that required gravelling before winter set in. On the top of the flar, hill there were two lagoons that required two small culverts, as the road was very wet in winter. A. few chains of ditching was also required.—Keceived, and inspector authorised to have the work done.

Fencing and other improvements to the. value of £90 had been made, and she offered to accept £J0 in the event of the council revoking the lease.-Coneideration postponed. Tho Assialant-secretnry to the Treasury Wellington wrote stating that £263 lfl«, deferred payment and perpetual lease thirds, had been remitted to the Colonial Bank, Palmerston, to the credit of the council.—Keceived.
