CONCERT.
A well attended concert and ball to provide funds for the improvement of the Caversham reserve was held last night in the Hall, Caverabain. Mr W. Barron, M U.K., occupied the chair, and apologised for the absence of Mr Myers, who was unable to attend. .The following ladies aud gentlemen gave their services:—Misses Blaney, Henry, and Larking Messrs Tyree, James Barron, Sligo,"lt. Wilson, W. Stewart, St.ible Bros., and the members of the C-versham Choral Society. The several items were well rendered and deservedly applauded. Miss E. French accompanied on the piano. At the interval the Chairman Baid he had a very pleasing duty to perform, having been asked by the ladie3 of Caversham to present colours to the dversuam Football Club. He complimented the club upon the result of their games last season, and su;»ge~ted that the members, before the season commenced, should give an afternoon at pick-and-shovel work on the reserve. He felt sure that the ladies of Caversham would grace the reserve with their presence, and no doubt provide relresbments for the occasion.
Mr Milnb (president), in accepting the colours on behalf of the club, thanked the ladies of Caversham for their kindness. The ciub would increase their efforts to maintain the position they had secured and he promised, on behalf of the club, that the suggestion made by Mr Barron would be followed out. At the conclusion of the programme Mr Milne called for a hearty vote of thanks to tbe ladies and gentlemen who had so kindly assisted during the evening. This was carried by loud applause. The hall was afterwards cleared for dancing. Mr J. Yates provided the music, while Mr Dixou catered, to the entire satisfaction of those present.
