AN AERIAL FLIGHT. Following m the footsteps of Professor by which a descent is made from a baloonat a height of 6000 ft, when he pulled a X knot which connected the parachute to the balloon and commenced the descent. For a time the descent was like a stone, but nearZt^ th, c + c,arfch, the bundle expanded andpresented the shape of a Japanese umbrella, bio wly the parachute and Williams gracefully descended at Home Bash, three miles from where the ascent was made, not having received the slightest injury. THE AQUATIC CARNIVAL. Brisbane, December 8. (Received December 9, at 11 a.m.) , The foul which occurred in the grand intercolonial sculling contest between Searle Beach, and Matterson, in which Beach was Pla°e' has led t0 a g°°A deal of ill-feeling, and Beach has expressed his determination not to row in the final heat, owing to the conduct of Searle, who lie couriers forced the foul. The tact CS Of the champion and his trainer, MaKo£ have met with general disapprobation. The final heat will be rowed on Tuesday.
