The Land Board met ou Wednesday. Thcro were present: The Chief Commissioner, Messrs Logan, Clark, and Dallas. Kuhow.—Mr W. L. Maciiaks. —Jaim•« Hartstonge's, sen., application to purchase 210 acres near Macrae-, north of sections 11 and 12, as second-class land, was declined. Settlers at Macrae's Flat asked that ten acres bo reserved for recreation purposes—Covernmi'nt to be recommended to nuke the reserve. Wakatipu.—Mr Wesley Turtcm, on behalf of Thomas Hicks, lessee of section 25, Mid Wnka tipu, asked if Government would sell him the

land or reduce the reut to £1 per Ruuum. —-Referral to district land officer. Hr. Batiians.—lt was resolved to notify Messrs File nud Hill, of St. Bathans to show, cause why the perpetual leases held by them should uot be cancelled for non-compliance with conditions as to residences. Kklso. —The hoard decided that sections 10 to 22, blnck XI, Kelso, be classified as suburban land and offered for sale at £4 per acre. Woobi.ands.-J. I. Maloney asked leave to exchange his homestead section at Catlins, in tlie Woodlands block, for a deferred-payment section, as the laud is rough, almost perpendicular, and too small to work.—The. board resolved that they hail uo power to comply with the request. Hawka. —It was intimated that James Smith, section 8, block XXVII, Tapanui ; and Allan M'Lean, section (11, block XII, Lower Ha.yea, had not paid the rent due on their village special settlement leases.—The matter was referred to chief commissioner. Stuatii-Taikri. —It was resolved that W. Bennett's pastoral deferred-payment license be forfeited for non-payment of instalments; Hanger Ilughan to value the improvements. IlAWKsnujiy.—A. J. Brown's application to hold section 77, block I, Hawksbiuy, under tho deferred-payment system instead of the special homestead system was referred to the chief commissioner.

Waitahun'a.—Johu Cummings applied to purchase section 1, block X, Waipahi; and John Crozier to purchase section.79, block VII, Waitahuna East.—Approved. Ukazinu Huns.—Applications to exchange pastoral deferred-payment licenses fur small grazing run leases were received from G. F. Welch, sections 1, 2, 3, 8, and 1), block 111, Waipori, and Hugh M'Kay, section 73, block XI, Glenkenich, and recommended for the consent of the minister. Licensks Forfeited.—Two deferred-pay-ment Hocuses were declared forfeited for nonpayment of interest; Hanger Hughan to value the improvements—viz , Michael Ford, section 8, block XI, Greenvale, and W. LkaninuKock. —The Duuedin Gold Dredging Company's application for a coal lease for 20 acres in block IX, Leaning Koek district, was declined; the cotnpauy to apply for uot more than 10 acres in such a position as not to interfere with existing interests. Waipoiu.—The Government were recommended to revoke the proclamation setting apart section la, block X, Waipori, as a small grazing run, and the Governor-in-Council to be recommended to offer the same for pastoral

license for seven years at 3.1 per acre upset. Lauder.-—Mr Simpson, on behalf of F. G.
