Government Advertisements. ARMY CONTRACTS. Commissariat, Dunedin, December, 1861. TENDERS will be received at this office, until noon of Saturday, 28tii inst, from persons willing' to Contract for Furnishing- H. M.'s troops with the undermentioned supplies," in such quantities, at such times, and at such places within this town, as may be directed by the undersigned, or by his successor in office, during the three calendar months commencingl the Ist January next, under the conditions hereinafter specified, viz.:— PROVISIONS, FUEL, AND LIGHT. Fresh Meat ") Bread ( at per Mould Candles C pound. Sperm Candles of English Manufacture J Firewood, at per 100 lbs. The Fresh Meat to consist of Beef and Mutton, delivered in such proportion as may be directed. When Beef is issued, fore and hind quarters are to be delivered to the troops alternately. Six inches to be cut off the hough and neck bones. Mutton to be delivered in carcases. The Senior Commissariat Officer or Officer deputed by him to have the power of inspecting' the live Cattle and Sheep intended for slaughter, and of reject'rig-any animal considered unfit for the use of the Troops. The animals to be killed and ready for the further inspection of the Commissariat Officer at such times and places as he might appoint. The Bread shall be the produce of clean sound Wheaten Flour of the best quality, and baked (24 hours before issue) in loaves of 2 lbs. each. The Mould Candles are to be properly seasoned by being-kept on hand by the Contractor for a suitable period after manufacture. The Firewood to be hard wood, split and cut into lengths of 4 feet. The Contractor for supplying Firewood must have constantly on hand, near'the Camp or Barracks, in a place to be approved by the undersigned, or his successor in office, a stock sufficient for 14 days' consumption, from which stock alone the issues are to be made. The stock to be at all times subject to the inspection of the Commissariat, and all wood that is objected to at such inspection must be immediately removed. The Wood, although paid for by weight, according- to the Tender, must be delivered by measurement, and stacked for that purpose by the Contractor on delivery; 71 cubic feet being considered equivalent to a ton of 2240 lbs. It will be oj)tional with the Commissariat to bring Coal into more general use, and reduce, or even discontinue the demand for Firewood altogether, should such a change become advisable. HOSPITAL SUPPLIES. Choice pieces of any description of Fresh Meat,^ without bone J Fine Bread (fancy if required) Fine Flour Arrowroot Sago Rice \ \ Pearl Barley Tea 2" Coffee ~ No. 1 Company's best Moist Sugar 1 g_ Best Loaf Sugar Oatmeal S2 Black Lead & Salt White or Black Pepper Fine Mustard Fresh butter Potatoes Mixed Vegetables Yellow Soap Preserved Meats-and Soups (exclusive of tins) J Fresh Eggs, at per dozen Fowls, each Bath Bricks Milk, Vinegar, Lime Juice, at per Imperial pint English Ale or Porter, at per dozen quart bottles, containming 5 gills each Sherry, Port Wine, and Brandy, at per bottle of 1J * pints each Lemonade and Sodawater, at per dozen bottles. These supplies are to be delivered at the expense of the Contractor, direct to the Hospital Sergeant, at the Hospital, upon the written order of the Medical Officer. Each article to be of the best quality that can be procured. The Medical Officer to have the power of rejecting any article offered, and if proper supplies are not immediately substituted, of purchasing at the expense of the Contractor. . PRISON SUPPLIES. Each article to be of the best quality that can be procured; the Quarter-Master to have the power of rejecting any article offered, and of purchasing at the contractor's expense if proper supplies are not immediately substituted. General Conditions. 1. All the articles to be of the best marketable quality of their several kinds. 2. Each tender to be accompanied by a statement signed by two approved persons becoming securities for the due performance of the contract, should the Tender be accepted. The penalty in each case will be the estimated amount of three months' contract. 3. No transfer of a contract will be permitted without the previous consent of the undersigned, or his successor in office. '" ' 4. In the event of a contractor failing to have liis t supplies ready for inspection and issue at the time and place appointed, the Commissariat Officer on duty to have the power of immediately purchasing the articles required at his expense, and in the event of such failure occurring or any portion of Ms supplies beingrejected three times during any one calendar month, it shall be optional with the undersigned, or his successor in office, to end the contract at once, and to enforce the penalty of the bond. 5. The contractor to prepare his own account, monthly, according to the prescribed form, and on producing the same, with the requisite vouchers, in a complete state, at this Office. Payment will be made in cash. Each Tender to be in duplicate, sealed in one envelope, and endorsed " Tender for — " as the case may be. - A Tender once sent in cannot be withdrawn or altered.
