EDUCATIONAL MEETINGS.
A meeting of the householders in the northern part oi: the city was held in Mr. Stuart's schoolroom on the 6th inst. The hon. J. H. Harris in the chair.
Mr. Hislop, the Secretary to the Education Board, attended, and explained the leading features of the New Education Ordinance, and the steps which the meeting1 should take to create the northern part of Dunedin an Educational District under the Ordinance. A resolution affirming the desirability of this course was unanimously agreed to ; and the following gentlemen were elected a School Committee, viz.—Messrs. Dick, Street, Bremner, Howiison, J. Gillies, Prictor, W. M'lvor, Healey, and D. Henderson.
A similar meeting was held at Caversham on the 9th inst., when the same course was agreed upon ; and the following gentlemen were elected a Committee, viz.—Messrs. Anderson, Feger, Thompson, Oalder, Sidey, F. Fulton, and Nicol.
A meeting of the householders of the southern portion of the city was called for the evening of the 10th inst., but no one except the- Secretary to the Education Board, attended.
