At the half-way mark, with seven matches played, they still had only '7. points on the table, while Diamonds reckoned their total 12 and Waterside 11. ■ From that moment, though, the Hospital men unleashed a paralysing , run and their later record has been seven victories m a row. . > ' This record has given them the championship title by a single point. The reorganisation of the team, the form of. Jeffreys, the goal-getting centreforward, solid halves and the -nippiest of wingers ' have put the Hospital, team where it is. Hospital are sound. They have beaten side after side by sheer strength and skill. There has been little luck about their performance, for just as they worked up to best form there came a series of breaks due to the Chatham Cup, representative fixtures and Auld Memorial, and they might well have been thrown out of their stride. In. tipping them as likely winners from the first two games they played after the half-way mark had been nassed, "N.Z. Truth" pointed to the one danger which would rob them of the title— the damaging break m. match-play just when they had attained top form.
