SEEN OUT IN PUBLIC
ONLY LEAD IN THE: STAKES (From "N.Z. Truth's" Auckland; Rep.) BEFORE all the two-year-olds, engaged m the Avondale Stakes have arrived, at headquarters, and strode out against time,, "it is impossible to j decide whether there may be, a surj prise m store m the juvenile classic. - Candidates hail from many parts, T and some of these have not been . seen out even m parade sprints. Others h&ve sported silk, and it is from this lot which "Truth" takes its present guide. Neither Type nor Teller gained a place m the Debutante Stakes - at Wanganui, and it' looks 'as. if- King Colus-, sus, which finished second to the speedy Korokio last Saturday, will again finish m front of that pair. This .chestnut son of Colussus has been improving with every sprint, and George New's candidate seems just the I sort to be suited by the roomy Ayonkdale track. Bert Norris is. to ride him. r A youngster called Baroscope appears to be sprinting well at Te Awamutu, while there is no _ doubt that Bonnylea has kept on impressing Ellerslie track attendants since winning a parade sprint at Pakuranga. Royal Gallant, which was second that day, has gone on the right way, while "Truth" formed the impression then that Roserie (Leighton— -"Valvate) would be much improved when the Avondale Stakes came up for decision. There are seventeen m the classic altogether, and on what has been seen m public so far three likely to dispute honors are King Colussus, Bonny, Lea and Roserie.
