Comic Song was attempting to win his third Stewards' m succession on Saturday. ! DEOPLE from down south' expressed every confidence m his ability to do so, but he let them down. When it was seen that,he had drawn the rails, many who had considered the race forgot about Comic Song. ■ What was expected happened. He failed' to jump away smartly and was chopped right out. ■ - -With several flying machines ■• setting the pace m front, most of the eight-stone division were being carted off their feetand none was scrambling more than Comic Song. He was well back m the field when the course proper was reached and though he made up some ground m the straight he was never m the picture. .":.■■'• Drawing the inside position had a lot to do with his defeat, but after allowing everything m he could not have won this year's Stewards'. There were too many fast horses to beat this year. SORENESS DEVELOPED TEMPERATURE . . would have been 1 "hot stuff" at 9.2 for Che Totara Hurdles (Thames), but he was withdrawn on account of developing soreness. ■'■.■" However, his second and third to Pouri at Cambridge on Labor; Day will hardly be forgotten.
