The Call Of The Sea
» PROBATIONERS AGAIN IN TROUBLE. The spirit which prompted Dorothy Myra Lennox (18) and Frank Ratcliito to take to al fresco life m tho wllda of the reclamation at Parnell Is apparently not easily curbed and it ls therefore not surprising that it should again command the spotlight of tho Auckland Magistrates'sCourt. On this occasion the young Crusoes were charged with converting to their own use a yacht valued at £35 and owned by Thomas Glanville. A second offence was that they had failed to comply with the terms of their release on probationary license. Frank and Dorothy first attracted public attention last September when they were discovered by Sergeant Parsons living amongst the tol-tol of the reclamation after Omar Khayyam's deBlre, with a loaf of bread but minus the book of verse. After being convicted on the charge of being idle and disorderly persons, the couple were placed on probation for two years and the girl was also ordered to .spend three months m tho probation home. Magistrate Poynton gave warning that If the boy took the girl out again both he and Dorothy would, get three months In Mt. Eden. Despite this It is alleged that tho couple set out from Judge's Hay for Rangitoto m a sailing yacht and remained a day at the island. It is also affirmed that they sailed to various bays up tho coast making a landing at Murray's Bay and abandoning the vessel there, nlightly thc worse for wear. On tho application of Senior-Dutoc-tive Ward the couple were remanded until March 10.
