WAIMARIA KILLED.

While being schooled on the Porirua beach on Saturday morning, along with Playmate, the Mahaki geluing Waimaria, who was ridden by H. Telford, crashed through the first fence and turned o ver on his head. The result was a broken neck, and the horse died without a quiver. Telford, luckily, was thrown clear, but he, too, landed on his head, and was unconscious for some time. After being examined by a doctor, it was found that he was suffering from a badlyfractured collar-bone, and was als 0 considerably bruised and shaken. He was removed to his home at Palmerston North on Wednesday. The accident will hit Telford very hard, as he had a '' us y time m front of him, and was fully engaged at tho Ellerslie and Kangitikei meetings. At the latter place, ho had a ride m every race on the programme, so the monetary loss to him will be. a severe one. Mr J. R. McDonald, who owned Waimaria, is to be sympathised with, as the Mahaki gelding was In the condition of his life, a nd it was n 0 secret that the stable expected him to win a couple of hurdle races at Ellerslie.
