JEALOUSY'S JAUNDICED EYE.

Solicitor Percy Jackson, who conducts S.M.s Court cases lor the firm of Messrs VViJford and Levi, grew virtuously indignant m the "Iron Duke's" Palace of Justice on Monday last. The polito Percy was appearing for the missus m a marital misery affair, wherein a bewhiskered, voluble individual named Jas. McAlpine, ■who is a landlord, pleaded hard times as a reason Avby he should not continue to pay Mrs Mac. £1 per week, as ordered to do .so some i'ime back. Old Mac. did not seem to show good cause for the variation of the order, and when Mrs Mac., from her seat m Court, walked to where her solicitor was perched, she complained that Old Mac. had insulted her, and Percy voiced her protest. Percy blushed at the name the whiskered one was alleged to have called his missus and breathed it only when requested to do so, whereupon the S.M., who hadn't heard Mac. use the awful word, said he could not do anything. Then up spoke Percy. "Sir," he said, "T claim protection of the Court. This man has made an unwarranted suggestion against me. His Worship (m alarm) : What did he suggest ? Mr Jackson : He suggested that I w a s one of her fancy men. McAlpine . It is false. I asked him what he was getting for this. Mr Jackson again complained of McAlpine's indelicacy. His Worship' (severely to McAlpine) : If you cannot behave yourself you must leave the Court. / Mac. thereupon gloomily subsided.
