CAUGHT AT COURT.
Barbarous Barbara.
At the Police Court on Tuesday, S.M. Kettle did a wise thing. He has done wise things previously, but. this one was especially meritorious. A lady named Barbara Craigie toed the mark to answer charges of being drunk and using obscene language m Hobson-street. Mr Kettle said it was no use dealing lightly with a woman of her description again. She was always coming before him and it was, his duty to the public as well as for the woman's own good to put her under restraint m a place where beer is off the menu altogether. For drunkenness she would be sentenced to 14 days and on. the other charge 12 months' imprisonment. Having tried to murder the Magistrate, unsuccessfully, with fierce glances. Barbarous Barbara departed hence. If the Magistrate would give orders to find out the publican who supplied drink to this well-known drunken woman and when found give him twelve months, too, it would be a richly deserved lesson to him and his kind.
