ARMY EXERCISES
PLANS TO PROCEED A REGIMENT EXCLUDED SICKNESS AT WAIOURU POSITION NOT SERIOUS (S.R.) WKT/LTNCiTOX, Monday A decision to proceed with the northern military manoeuvres was reached to-day following a visit of inspection to Waiouru camp hy the Chief of tlio General Staff, MajorGeneral Sir John Duigan, and the Director-Genera 1 of Medical Services, Hrigadier F. T. Mowerhank. as n result of an outbreak of dysentery among some moil of the 2nd Wellington .Regiment. The decision was announced to-night hv the Minister of .Defence, the J lon. K. .Jones, Ho .said that, although the position was not considered serious, he thought it advisable to have a report before the troops undertook their field exercises, A conference had been held to-day and, while the number of cases of illness was rapidly dropping, it was not thought advisable to shift the 2nd Wellington Regiment. The other units would carry out their manoeuvres, the first moving off to-morrow morning and the remainder according to plan.
