As an indication of the high standard of play among Public Service bowlers in Auckland. the report presented at the annual meeting of the Public Service Bowling Association drew attention to the fact that six of tho last eight competitors left in the Auckland Centre's Christmas tourney were members of tho association. Although last season was shorter than usual, there being only 19 professional matches held, the standard of wrestling in all contests was such that the season terminated leaving pleasant, memories of many exciting encounters and exhibitions of clever wrestling. With the amateur ranks depleted due lo the war, the task of the amateur committee was greatly increased. However, it is felt that the excellent result of their efforts justified the additional work.
