WORK IN MIDDLE EAST
Y.W.C.A. REPRESENTATIVES AID TO UNIFORMED WOMEN Two workers from the Young Women's Christian Association who wcro sent from Zealand to assist .Miss Jean Begg 111 recreational centric for uniformed women in the .Middle Mast have arrived at their destination and commenced work. They are Miss .Margaret Saunders and Miss Hetty Bonnier. The former, according to a letter written by Miss Begg, will he in charge of the work in Jerusalem, where suitable accommodation for a residential club for nursing sisters has been secured. "Miss Saunders is undertaking this appointment with enthusiasm," .Miss Begg writes, "and will have large opportunities of serving every unit of the nursing services in the Middle Mast. \\ e havo great pleasure in informing everyone that she is not only sent from the Y.W.C.A. of New Zealand, but that the New Zealand Government and the Patriotic Fund hoard have made her services possible." Miss Lordlier is to b<> in charge of the Y.W.C.A. first recreational centre for uniformed women in a desert camp. At the time .Miss Begg wrote the hut was not yet completed, but purchases of furniture had been made and Miss Lorimer was planning for the activities to he undertaken at the hut. The club will serve nearly 200 Knglish nursing sisters from two base hospitals, who will he living in tents. Miss Lorimer has also been designing a summer uniform for those in the wartime services of the British Y.W.C.A. and Miss Begg and her helpers expert shortly to wear uniforms whenever they appear in public.
