OBITUARY
MRS. M. J. SWAN [BY TEI/EGIIAPIT —OWN* COHRKSPONDENT] KAITAIA, Afonday The death has occurred at Taknhne of Mrs. M. .T. Swan. Born in Tipperary, Ireland, Mrs. Swan came to New Zealand with her sister and brother in her 20th year. She took up teaching in Wellington and married there. Her husband died in Tiinaru 49 years ago. Mrs. Swan resumed teaching and was appointed first teacher at- the Kaitaia School. She purchased a farm and for some years managed her farm and taught at school at the same time. During the war Mrs. Swan sold her farm and retired with her daughters to live iu Dannevirke. For the last 18 years she had* lived at Takahne. She is survived by two sons and three daughters.
