MEMORY OF PIONEERS
FORMATION OF SOCIETY The formation of a New Zealand Founders' Society, comprised of, and strictly limited to, the direct male and female descendants of the actual founders of the four original provinces, has been suggested by Mr. I). Hope Johnston, founder and former president of the Australasian Pioneers' Club and the Manly Historical Society, Sydney, who is visiting Christehurch. Mr. Johnston said that the present time would be appropriate for the formation of such a society because interest would be temporarily aroused in the founders of the provinces by the centennial celebrations next year. It would be the object of the society, he said, when the transient excitement of the anniversary celebrations had passed, to maintain and foster the interest then kindled in historical events, and places generally; but, in particular, those connected with .the jvorjc o£ .tlie founders*
