ACCOMMODATION TAXED DIPLOMAS AND PRIZES £by telegraph —own cokkespondent] PALMERSTON NORTH, Friday It was reported to the Massey Agricultural College board of governors by the principal, Professor G. S. Peren, that enrolments for diploma courses this year would easily constitute a record, and the result was that the accommodation at the college hostel ■would be more than ever inadequate to cater for full-time students. It would be necessary this year for degree Btudents to find lodgings in the city. The board decided to renew its efforts, through the council of the School of Agriculture, to obtain a grant for the provision of additional accommodation.

The y following diplomas and prizes have been awarded by the board: — [Walker and Hall Shield for highest aggregate in stock judging, L. G. Southon (Hamilton); Southdown Society's Shield for judging Southdown sheep, L. G. Shand (Paeroa); Sir James "Wilson Medal for leading student in first year of sheep-farming course, D. I. Blackley (New Plymouth); Norton Francis Medal for leading student in the second year of the sheep-farm-ing course, "C. M. Gilray (Hastings); diplomas in sheep-farming, J. C. Blake [(Northern Wairoa), R. W. Boyens i(Wellington), C. M. Gilray (Hastings), ,V. J. Mildon (Norsewood), T. P. McGrath (Wellington); Bledisloe prize for 1938 for leading student in the second year of the degree course, A. J. Healy i(Feilding); Shell scholarship, 1939, EL ,G. Gilmer (Gisborne).
