ARRANGEMENTS FOR TO-DAY Arrangements for Instruction In swimming at beaches and pools during tho week-end have been made by the Auckland branch or tho National Committco of Swimming and Lifo-saving. which is organising the "learn-to-swim" campaign in the province. With full tide early in the afternoon both to-day and to-morrow, conditions will be very suitable for teaching swimming. Milford and Milford Girls' Surf Clubs; Takapuna Beach, Takapuna Surf Club; Brown's Bay, Eastern United Surf Club; Cheltenham and Devonport Benches, North Shore Amateur Swimming Club; St. Heliers Bay and Lady 8 Bay, Eastern Suburbs Amateur Swimming C üb; Mission Bav, Waite,mata Girls' Surf Club; King's College Baths. Middlemore, Otahuhu Amateur Swininiincr Club; Bucklandfli Beach, Of;ilitihu Swimming Club; Point Chevalier,' voluntary instructors; Birkenhead, voluntary instructors; l'ukekohe Baths. Pukekoho Swimming Club: Dargaville. Northern Wairoa Surf Club; Kaikohe Baths. Kaikoho Amateur Swimming Club; Whangaroi Baths, Whangarci Amateur Swimming Club; haitaia batnijig pool, Kaitaia Swimming Club. Numerous schoolchildren in Auckland have been able to have swimming instruction by the decision of the Auckland Transport Board to grant them freo tram transport to baths during school hours.
PONSONBY ACTIVITIES FUNCTION AS LIFE-SAVING CLUB The Ponsonby Amateur Swimming Club has decided to function as a life-saving club. This -sphere of activities has lapsed somewhat in the last few years and endeavours were made recently, to engage the services o! a first-class instructor. No instructor la at present available, hut the Royal LifeSaving Society is prepared to givo any member of the club who holds a bronze badgo or better a refresher courso.
MOUNT EDEN CARNIVAL ■An interesting programmo has been arranged by the Mount Eden Amateur Swimming Club for its carnival in the Mount Eden Baths next Tuesday night. The following events will he contested: —00 2-3 Yard# open. (Hi 2-4 yards ladies, 220 yards open. 100 yards hreaslstroke. 50 yards intermediate nrid junior boys, 50 yards Intermediate and junior girls, 00 2-3 yards open backstroke, 50 yards novice, 33 1-3 yards Mount Eden juniors. In addition to these races, which provide for swimmers of nil classes, iho club will decide the 200 yards intermediate and junior inter-club relay championship, the club diving championship, the 50 yards junior championship, and tho 50 yards and 220 yards youths' championship, A water pole match. wilL also be played.
