COUNTY BOUNDARIES
AREA ADDED TO WAITOMO [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] TE KUITI, Friday Advice has been received by the Waitomo County Council of the findings of a commission which heard evidence before Christmas on a boundary dispute between the Waitomo and Clifton councils. Some time ago Mokai River settlers on the southern bank of the river, served by roads on the northern bank, presented a petition to be included in Waitomo County. This was agreed to by Waitomo, but was not acceptable to Clifton. The Internal Affairs Department has adopted the recommendation of the commission that effect be given to the petition presented by the Waitomo County Council on behalf of the settlers. This means that an area of 4500 acres will be added to the Waitomo County.
