CRASH IN FOG
CORSICA TRAGEDY EIGHT PEOPLE DEAD SIX SERIOUSLY HURT GREAT FLASH OF FLAME, By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright MARSEILLES, Feb. 9 The eight people who were killed when a flving-boat,, bound from Ajaccio, Corsica, to Tunis, struck a mole in taking-off at Marigane included five passengers and three members of the crdw. They were killed instantly. The six remaining occupants were seriously injured. There were no British people on board.
Three women were among the dead, while a fourth, who jumped into the sea with her hair burning was picked up seriously injured. All the dead were in the front of the machine, the others escaping by the rear door.
The flying-boat was leaving the water when it crashed into the mole, which was obscured by fog, and the machine was broken to pieces. . There was a great flash of flame when the flying-boat struck. It had not been able to gain sufficient altitude to clear the jetty. The chief pilot, • who was killed, had 10,900 flying hours to his credit.
lii spito of the consternation that followed the tragedy, another seaplane left for Algiers only a few minutes late, carrying four passengers who saw the loss of the flying-boat.

AMSTERDAM. Feb. 9 The newspaper De Telegraff states .. that tha Dutch air service between the Dutch Indies and Australia will begin simultaneously with the Empire flyingboat service on Julv 1.
