EMPIRE VETERANS
REUNION GATHERING GREETINGS FROM BRITAIN The King's Empire Veterans held their annual ,reunion yesterday, when a large number of the members, with their wives and friends, attended an afternoon, gathering The president, Captain J. A. Algie, was the host, and ,the secretary, Captain H. llaby, was master of ceremonies.
Sir George Richardson, one of the Vice-patrons of the organisation, spoke on the differences in warfare in past campaigns and at present. He emphasised the need 'for inculcating a spirit of peace. • In the course of an address on his recent trip to England, and tho Coronation, Captain Algie conveyed greetings to the members from tho Duko of Gloucester, Sir Charles Fergusson and Lord Bledisloe. During their terms as Governor-General of the Dominion the latter two, ho said, took a great interest in the veterans.
Songs were given by Mr. Robert Simmers, Mr. G. Brittan and Mrs. E. Webb, and recitations b.v Miss M. Parkinson, Miss Theo Halpin was accompanists.
