.IMPROVED WAGES URGED \ CONDITIONS IN BRITAIN LONDON, July ft Mr. J. Griffiths, who presided at the conference of the Nation Union of Railwaymen at Plymouth, recorded to-day that, thu accumulated funds amounted to £2,037,993. Ho emphasised the need •for improving wages and conditions, and added that the union could not allow sweated road competition to out rates.
,lf the railway companies could not pay wages guaranteeing a reasonable living standard, the Government should nationalise the railways and all forms of transport, Mr. Griffiths contended.
