FARMER HIRES TRAIN
TRANSFER TO NEW HOLDING ENTIRE STOCK AND EQUIPMENT [by telegraph—own correspondent] HAWEKA, Tuesday More in keeping with methods adopted in the United States than in rural South Taranaki was the undertaking engineered by a well-known Whakamara farmer, Mr. J. Gulliver, who, by means of a special train comprising 35 cattle trucks and six waggons, transferred the whole stock and equipment from his farm to a farm at Paengaroa, Bay of Plenty. The train was made up of 26 cattle rakes and nine specially-fitted as pig-sties. The task of shifting the farm stock to the station, about three miles away, was accomplished during the past week. A large number of obliging fellow settlers assisted Mr. Gulliver, who has been farming in the Whakamara district for many years. Five lorries were used this morning to transport stock from the farm to the station,. which presented an animated appearance with 300 head of cattle, 20 sheep and upward of 60 pigs in sties and waggons. The new farm is situated only a mile from the railway. Six waggons of household effects and equipment were despatched last night.
