SPRINGBOK MATCHES
INCREASED ACCOMMODATION EDEN PARK IMPROVEMENTS The number of improvements at Eden Park to increase the accommodation for the large crowds expected at the matches against the Springboks are now nearing completion. A considerable amount of spoil has been placed in front of the score-board and with the addition of further deposits will form a big ramp which will enable a large number of spectators to obtain an excellent view of the matches. The picket fencing in front of the main stand has been moved several yards forward on to the ground. This will considerably increase the accommodation in this area.
The Nos. 2 and I] grounds have been moved further toward Sandringham Road to enable a full dead-ball area at each end of the oval. The re-arrange-ment of the post and rail fencing at the south end is already in position. A series of crush rails is being erected on the steeper parts of the western terraced embankment, as a safety measure against the possible surging of the big crowds which are expected to occupy this area The Auckland Rugby Union is making everv effort to ensure the easy control of tlie spectators when entering and leaving the ground. The number of turnstiles to the main entrances is being increased to twenty, while the various exits are also being enlarged.
