THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE IRREGULAR MARKET TONE There was an irregular tone in the investment market on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday. Only a normal amount of business was put through, and prices fluctuated within narrow limits. Government loans continned strong at late rates. jll banks the recovery in Commercials of Australia was carried further on good buying support. New Zealand* again cased, slightly, and more were available at the lower level. Among insurances New Zealands maintained late • ra tcs. A rise in buyers' limits for South British failed to attract holders. Main interest in the classified group centred on breweries. The ordinary issue of Dominions was steady. New Zealands wore marked down in dealing. Metal issues continued to improve. Strong buying support for Broken Hill Proprietary at the close resulted in business at an advance, while quotations for Electrolviie Zincs firmed. G. J. Coles continued strong, but oilers were withdrawn at the close. Among the Dominion issues. Taranaki Oils opened strongly and, although the market eased, prices were still in advance of the previous transfer. "Wilsons Cements moved up a shade. Farmers' Fertilisers dropped back slightly.
