WAIKATO PRESBYTERY

DEBT REDUCED BY £BOO EFFORT AT TE AWAMUTU [FROM OUR OWX CORRESPONDENT] HAMILTON, Tuesday A statement that £lO7 was due in arrears of assembly funds was made at to-day's meeting of the Waikato Presbytery. It was decided to bring the position to the notice of the various treasurers concerned in an attempt to improve the position. It was reported that the debt owed in the To Awamutu district had been reduced by £BOO, almost half what it was six years ago. Such an effort was considered all tho more creditable as it had been accomplished by straight-out giving. A report from the secretary explaining why an increase of 12J per cent in budget expenses had been allowed for stated that work which had been carried on in the past would cost more, that income from trust funds had fallen, that missionaries' travelling expenses had risen, and that additional salaries would have to be paid and "cuts" restored. In consequence allocations had necessarily been increased in all save three instances.

The missionary superintendent, the Rev. G. Btuld, asked for co-operatioii in making the appeal to reduce tho Maori mission deficiency of £6OOO a success, and Sister E. Allen addressed the assembly on youth work in tho district.
