PRESENTATIONS
A farewell to Mr. M. C. Baker, a •prominent athlete, who has been appointed to the staff of the Newmarket Boroucth Council, was held at Thames. Mr. Baker received a gold-mounted fountain pen from the American basketball teams and a gold-mounted pencil from the Athletic Asociaiion. Pleasing references to his work were made by the borough commissioner, Mr. C. L. Grange, Mr. W. H. Hoult, Mr. W. H. Baker and Mr. J. Harvey. Mr. Baker received his clerical training at the Thames Borough Council office, and has been prominent in football, cricket and athletics.
Constable H. G. Hodgo, who will shortly leave Morrinsville on transfer to Tauranga, was farewelled at a function on Saturday afternoon. On behalf of residents of Morrinsville and district the Mayor, Mr. W. T. Osborne, made a presentation of an inscribed clock and spoke appreciatively of the p.art Constable Hodge had played as a citizen of the town. The presentation ot a Bilver-mounted oven dish to 3lrs. Hodge was also made by the Mayor.
