TREE CRASHES ON CYCLISTS

Two English girl cyclists were swept from their machines when a 60ft. elm tree at Clacton crashed to the ground in tho wind. The tree gives its name to tho district of Bookings Elm and is tho junction of three roads. The main roads from Clacton to Colchester were completely blocked. The girls are Phyllis Tharle and Frances Warville, of St. Osyth. Telephone wires were broken and tho branches of the tree pinned the girls to the ground. They suffered severely from shock and body injuries*
