RULES OP THE UNION THOROUGH OVERHAUL GIVEN REPORT OF COMMITTEE [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] WELLINGTON. Friday The New Zealand Farmers' Union conference had before it this morning tho report of the special committee which was appointed to overhaul the platform and rules of the union. Tho committee, which was set up at the 1933 conference, ' consisted of Messrs. W. B. Mntheson, D. Dickie and R. H. Fcisst. Last year's conference had riot time to deal with the matter and postponed discussion till this year. Clause six was altered to read, "In order to facilitate closer settlement of land large estates should be acquired by tho Crown at a fair value and suitable rural lands should bo purchased and homes erected thereon for workers, who shall he entitled to purchase them on tho time-payment principle." An addition was made to clause 0, which now reads, "Crown grants, subsidies and sums for expenditure by the Main Highways Board for roads and bridges shall be allocated on a definite basis and when voted by Parliament shall bo at once available and applicable to the particular work for which they are passed, and on no account be diverted or allowed to lapse, and whenever possible such grants should be expended by local bodies." Clauses 10, 11 and 12 were deleted. Clause 15 was amended to read, "Only ratepayers be empowered to vote at any election or poll concerning any county road board, hospital board, harbour board or electric-power board." The rules were given a thorough overhaul and various alterations made.

Friday At tho annual conference of the Women's Division of the New Zealand Farmers' Union' to-day Mrs. C. K. Wilson (North King Country), Dominion vice-president and editress of the New Zealand Countrywoman, was elected unopposed to the presidency. The following Dominion vice-presi-dents were elected: —South Island: Mesdames J. F. Drake (Otago), C. Mcintosh (North Canterbury), M. Ellen (South Canterbury). North Island: Mesdames J. C. W 7 ickham (W r anganui), C. J. Harris (North Taranaki) and W\ Lane (North Auckland). • Mrs. C. C. Hebberd (Utilcu) and Miss M. Polson (Wanganui); finance committee, Mesdames W 7 . B. Mathieson (Wellington), W 7 . J. Poison (W T anganui), and T. B. McNeil (Wellington); organising committee, Mesdames M. J. Cocker (Central Taranaki), T. C'onlon (Central King Country), E. M. Begg (Mid-Can-terburv), Forsyth (Nelson), D. Williams (North Auckland). WOMEN'S TREASURER RESIGNATION WITHDRAWN [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] WELLINGTON. Friday In response to requests from members to review her decision to resign from the position of treasurer of the Women's Division of the Farmers' Union, Mrs. J. Pow has decided to withdraw her resignation. Mrs. Pow resigned as a protest against the publication of a cartoon containing a representation of the King in the official organ of the Farmers' Union.
