FROST AND MORNING FOGS The weather report and forecast for New Zealand, issued last evening by the Government meteorologist, waß as follows:—An anti-cyclone now covers New Zealand, the centre being west of the South Island. Pressure is still low over the south-east of Australia and a shallow depression is now located north of Norfolk Island. The forecast is for south-easterly to southerly winds north of Farewell Spit and Kaikoura. Elsewhere, variable light to moderate winds generally, freshening in the far south; later freshening northerlies setting in about and south of Cook Strait. Seas in New Zealand waters, smooth to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate easterly winds in the northern portion, variable in the southern portion, later tending northerly and freshening. Seas smooth to moderate. The weather is likely to be fair and fine generally, but a few isolated showers aro likely in the far north and south. A cold night with many frosts and soma morning fogs. SPECIAL AUCKLAND FORECAST . SHOWERS IN THE NORTH The Government meteorologist issued to the Herald last evening the following special forecast for the Auckland Province: —South-easterly to southerly breezes, but freshening somewhat. The weather is likely to be mainly fair to fine, with a few isolated showers in the far north and on the east coast. Seas smooth to moderate. YESTERDAY'S WEATHER Auckland. —Fine weather and a moderate southerly wind was experienced yesterday, but the conditions were cloudy and unsettled during the afternoon. The barometer was steady at 30.20 in. during the afternoon and evening. The thermometer registered 57 degrees at 4 p.m. Barometer, midnight, steady .. 39.201n, Midnight, Thursday .. .. 30.151n. Wellington.—The weather was fine although cloudy at times. It was calm in the morning, but a gentle southerly breeze prevailed in the afterncon. The minimum temperature on Thursday night was 42.3 degrees. The maximum temperature yesterday was 57.2 degreeß, and the reading at 4 p.m. was 48.4 degrees. Christchurch.—The weather yesterday was fine with a very light northerly breeze in the morning, which fell away in the afternoon when there was a very light shower. The maximum temperature was 52.2 degrees. The barometer was rising steadily, and last evening registered 30.32 in. Dunedin. —Yesterday was dull and overcast following light rain during the early part of the morning. The barometer was fairly steady, and registered 30.20 in. last evening.
