PORT OF WHANGAREI
INCREASE IN TRADE [from ocb own correspondent] WHANGAREI, Friday A decided advance in the tirade and shipping activities and the cash receipts of the Whangarei Harbour Board for last month, as compared with the previous June, was disclosed at the meeting of the board to-day. Imports amounted to 2251 tons., as against 1022 ions for the same month last year, and exports totalled 7163 tons, against 6145 tons. The number of vessels entering the port was 56, irith a total tonnage of 10,747, as against 53 with a total tonnage of 8747 for the previous June. Cash receipts totalled £1259, as against £B9l. The chairman, Mr. J. A. Finlayson, drew the board's attention to the increase in the imports; to the extent of 100 per cent, which he considered was most gratifying. The other increases were also pleasing.
