TRAINING AT AWAPUNI

ROUND SCORE WORKS WELL GOOD SIX BY BODYLINE TELEGRAPH OTTN' CORKKr.-!'< jXT>ENT"I PALMERSTON NORTH, Tuesday Although recent rain has had an effect upon the tracks at Awapuni the going vras reasonably good this morning. The flags were about 12ft. out. Hunting Lodge (TV. J. Broughton) and j Round Score (S. Anderson) were sent along I over seven furlongs, keeping together : throughout. They ran the first half-mile in j 54 2-5s and the full distance in 1.36 2-5. Round ! Score being a neck in front at the post. The i Greyspear gelding is working very well at present and a hack race should come his way before long Although Riotous does not claim any immediate engagements he is being kept in good trim and he strode along over a mile in attractive style without being asked to give of his best, the last seven furlongs occupying 1.-16. Riotous has not raced since winning at Te Rapa. and he will have his next outing at "Wellington. Full Throttle (W. E Pine), who retains his condition wonderfully well, rnn at threetjuarter pace for the first half-mile and then came home over the last two furlongs in 265. Although he has lately been essaying open distance company the Cockpit gelding is still eligible for hack events, for while he has won £595 only £ll3 resulted from his six wins. His present trainer, W. Pine, has worked a material improvement in him and he has won £I9S with him this season. Te Rangitumau as 'Chaser To Rangitumau (Edwards) and Hilton Gorse (J. Mclnally) were associated in an easy working gallop, the lost three furlongs taking 44 2-ss. The former ia to be put to steeplechasing and may make his debut in the role at Levin. Hilton Gorse is a Hunting Song filly from Haligan. being thus a fullsister to View Halloo, but her form to date has been mediocre. Hunting Mars (L. n. Jones) strode along over six furlongs without being actually sent ! against the watch. This East Coast represen- ; tative is a plain-looking sort, but is a big i stridor and can get over the ground. Ho has been entered for the Levin meeting, but i in view of the fact that he has not raced I for two years he does not appear to have i any the best of the weights by being placed 1 within lib. of State Bank and 4lb. above ! Leprechaun in the hack sprint. I Bodyline (Pine) appears to thrive on 1 racing, for the little fellow is given plenty 1 of fast work. Ho slipped over six furlongs I in 1.15. the first three furlongs in 41 'J-ss. : When he reverted to hack company at Fox--1 ton ho ran a creditable second with 8.11, and at Levin he is weighted at 3.10 Ilnppy Hunting has been placed in G. W. New's charge and the Hunting Sons mnre is being restricted to light tasks in the meantime. While Hunting Song mares cannot claim a very good record this representative promised to be the exception to the rule, but has not improved as anticipated. However she will probably benefit by a freshening-up policy. Catalogue Resumes Work Catalogue has again been taken up by Luke Wilson. He is burly and well, although his rough winter coat gives him an outward appearance far from his usual self. This trainer's brace of yearlings by Nigger Minstrel, one being from Silver Grey fGrey Monk—Chlorite) and the other from Table Talk (Finland—Warscare). are showing a lot of promise and they are not being hurried. Esteem was among tho active workers, but Gold Cure, Petrarch and Boudoir, who alio made the trip to Hastings for the Ilawke's Bay meeting, remained for the Napier Park fixture. The quartette did quite well on tho Hastings trip, each registering one. win in addition to being placed at their other appearance. Their efforts brought in £3OO in stake-money. GLENORA PARK TEAM DRIVING ARRANGEMENTS C. Smith, who is in charge of tho Glenora Park trotting stables has eight horses, Bonny Azure, Nelson Luvan, Wee Machine, Chancellor, T\uini, Travis, Rnro Rev nnd King's Warrior, engaged at the Auckland meeting and as some of them are in the same races, it hns been necessary to secure additional reinsmcn. Smith will drive Bonny Azure in the Mangere Handicap, while the Addington driver, J. Fraser, jun., will be behind Nelson Luvan. Wee Machine will he driven by Smith in the Adams Memorial Cup and J. Bryco. jun., will pilot Chancellor. Smith will drive King's Warrior in the Marconi Handicap, while the Wellington reinsman, L. O. Thomas, has been engaged for Rnro Bey. The latter is owned by Mrs. E. I. McDonald, for whom Thomas trains Lord Wrack, and it is quite on the cards thnt Rare Rey will also be taken over by the Wellington trainer.
