TRAFFIC PROSECUTIONS

PTAHUHU COURT RETURNS Some indication of the surveillance of •traffic on the main highway between Westfiald and Papatoetoo carried out 'by the police and the traffic inspectors of the Mount.Wellington Road Board, the Otahuhu Borough Council and the Manukau County Council is contained in returns of traffic prosecutions dealt with at the Otahuhu Magistrate's Court during the last six months. These are of particular interest in view of the recent concern expressed over the traffic dangers on the Great South Road in that district arising from cyclists riding without lights after dark and riding in p careless manner generally. The returns show that since the beginning of the year to date 242 cases have been iaid before the Court in ,prosecutions under the statutory regulations and local by-laws governing road traffic.
