NOTICE OF DISMISSAL
RAILWAY WORKSHOPS MEN The following telegram has been sent to the Prime Minister, the Ut. Hon.. G. W. Forbes, by Mr. \V. J. Jordan, M.P. for Manukau: — "Great concern has been caused in the Auckland district by notice of dismissal being received by a number of married tradesmen, including returned soldiers, at the Otahuhu railway workshops. The unemployment situation is deplorable, it was expected that the Government would resjiect its own appeal to employers to keep men employed. I shall be obliged if you would inform me whether it is the intention of the Government to further aggravate the unemployment situation, thereby causing further hardship and suffering." It is understood that five blacksmiths, who were engaged a few monjths ago in a temporary capacity, have received notice of dismissal owing to the work upon whicli they were employed having been completed.
