DEMETRAL DEFEATS MUIR EACH GAINS ONE FALL LOSER UNABLE TO CONTINUE There was little thrill and 110 greafc amount of varied action in the main ■wrestling bout at the Town Hall last evening, when Harry Demotral, of America, was awardod the match early in the sixth round owing to his opponent, Bonnie Muir, the Australian wrestler, being unable to continue. Each man had - secured a fall, Demetral in the third round with a body press, and Muir in. the with a back loop slam. Demotral came back fairly fresh in the sixth round and rushed his opponent. Mnir attempted to get underneath with the idea of repeating the slam and both men went through the ropes. Muir struck his head on the stage and was unabifc to re-enter the ring within tho count. Tho Town Hall was barely full in contrast to tho great crowd present last week. There was a great deal of slapping and open-handed sparring throughout the match. A number of members of tho English Rugby League team and Southern members of the New Zealand League team were the guests of tho Auckland Wrestling Association at the match. First Round Tactics Demetral weighed in at 13st. 131b., and Muir 14st. 41b. Demetral early took Muir to the mat with an arm bar, but Muir held him with a head lock. The round alternated from headlocka to head scissors, Demetral invariably getting clear by punching and using his elbows, whila Muir found that pressure with his fingers on his opponent's neck or spine was usually effective in breaking the hold. These tactics were repeated in the second round, varied with a sitting splits secured by Muir. Quite unexpectedly in the third ronnd Demetral threw Muir with a series of headlocks and finally gained a fail with a body press. There was some brighter wrestling in the fourth round, Demetral failing with a, Bostpn crab when Muir went under the ropes, this being followed by Muir getting a barred arm scissors which had his opponent in trouble. However, the round ended with Demetral holding a , hammetlock at the gong. Demetral repeated the headlocks in the fifth round, with Muir seemingly walking . into them. It wa3 at this point that Muir hoisted his opponent and threw him with a back loop slam, gaining the fall .which equalised the match.
