On tho grass Catoma and Jewelled Girdle, after running tho first threo in 395, completed six furlongs in 1.19 3-5. They both went in good etyle. .and aro doing well in their preparations. Jewelled Girdle has been shaping pleasingly for a novice. Wee Pat wa3 not bristled to run half a mile in 55 2-ss. rfrid Marching Song completed a serviceable task with threo furlongs in 41 l-ss. Thcro has been nothing out of the way about Marching Song's latest track efforts, but ho has been doing everything asked of him in good stylo. Royal Survey. Ornamental and the Pantheon—lodine filly, covered six furlongs in 1.26 3-5. Royal Survey is ono of the bestconditioned horses at ElleTslie. whilo Ornamental and the Pantheon filly havo both muscled up ft good deal lately.. The Pantheon—Dora's Dbublo filly was well in front of On Approval at the end of six furlongs" in 1.24 4-5 Hampton Park went steadily over six furlongs, running the first threo in 43 l-ss, and tho full distance in 1.28 4-5. Hampton Park is bright and healthy, and will bo ready to Tade early. V'andylco ran his first three in 39 3-ss, and finished -pp six furlongs in 1.25. Vandyke would havo had no difficulty in running better time. He has accomplished a fair amount, of useful work lately and ie in fine order to be tuned up for tho early spring meetings. Royal Gallant strode along for a round, running tlie'last lialf-milo in 595. Royal Gallant displayed greatly-imr-rove<fform at the winter meeting, and ho is likely to do oven betler in the new season." Kiltowyn was not troubled to run four furlongs in 51 3-ss. The rising three-year-old does all his work with case and promises to go well when stretched out in earnest,. Malikill was allotted a useful task, but she went very scratchily. She has previously shown a disposition to go short. TAKANINI TRACK NEWS PALACE BACK IN TRAINING Conditions were wintry at Takanini yestorday, when very little fast work was attempted, trainers being content to_ give their chnrges only useful work. The middle grass was used for all tho work. j Prince of Orange (Walters) was going slightly better than Arch Uuler (FaVrell) at the end of half-a-mile in 54 J-ss. Prince of Orange is rapidly getting into racing trim, and Arch liulcr is also making stoadV progress. Guld ldom, with a good weight, up, ran five furlongs in 1.14. This gelding is to race at the Pakuranga meeting, hut although ho is coming on a littlo, lie will not be well enough conditioned to be dangerous at that meeting. . . . . , C. Morso returned to Takanini yesterday. He went to Hastings on Saturday with Mr. R A McLean,' who completed tho purchase j of Pillow Fight. Pillow Fight is to arrive at Takanini this morning, when he will be taken over by C. Morse, who will train him. Mr McLean has previously had Biazanna. Captain Dollar and.
