THIEVES SENT TO GAOL.
"MEN OF CRIMINAL CLASS."
[BY TELEGRAPH.-—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON, Tuesday. Described by the chief detective as members of the criminal class with rather bad histories, Manuel Valvoi, aged 26, a clerk, and Oswald Harris, aged 25, a labourer, to-day pleaded guilty to stealing wearing apparel and fi.ve bangles, valued at £3, the property of some person or persons unknown, and four green-i stono pendants, valued at £3 3s 6d, the property of Percy Denton.
It was stated that the men came from Auckland on May 3 and had since been sleeping out, and shoplifting during the day. They had not been long out of gaol. Accused were each sentenced to six months' imprisonment on each charge, the terms to bo cumulative.
