HARBOUR BOARD TERMS.
INTEREST IN ELECTIONS.
ALL MEMBERS AFFECTED
A possible, but unlikely, happening is that the entire personnel of the Auckland Harbour Board will be changed this year. The 15 members are appointed for varying terms, some two years and some three, but in every sixth year, of which 1929 is an instance;, the terms of all expire at approximately the same date. The fooir representatives of the city, five member! representing groups of contiguous local bodies, and three members elected by payers of dues go out of office at tho time of the municipal elections in the first week of May, while two other members representing counties hold office until tho county elections in the same month. The term of the remaining member, the Hon. E. W. Alison, who was appointed by the Governor-General-in-Council for three years, expires in April. Speculation is already rife as to who will be the next chairman of the board. Mr. 11. R. Mackenzie, representing the counties of Manukau and Franklin, has intimated he will not seek re-eiectiou. MrM. H. Wynvard is the present deputychairman, but. the names of at least threa other present members are mentioned as likely aspirants for the schairmanship* The election of chairman and deputy, chairman will be made in May.
