FATALITY AT CROSSING.
MOTOR-DRIVER CHARGED.
COMMITTAL FOR TRIAL
[by telegraph.—own correspondent.] HAMILTON, Wednesday.
In the Magistrate's Court to-day Patrick Deegan, a labourer, of Pukemiro, appeared on remand beforo justices of the peace to answer a charge against him arising from the fatal railway crossing accident at Forest Lake Road on December 1, 1928, in which Alexander John Hamilton, aged 31, was killed. Deegan was charged with driving a motor-car while intoxicated, and by an act in relation thereto causing the death of Hamilton. Accused, who was represented by Mr. J. F. Strang, pleaded not guilty, and reserved his defence. He was committed to the next sitting of the Hamilton Supreme Court for trial, bail being allowed as before.
