Discussing the modern young man in the course of an article which appeared in a London daily the Hon. Joan Ogilvio Grant, daughter of Lord and Lady Strathspey, formerly of Wellington, New Zealand, considers that "our elders don't know what they are talking about when they attempt to criticise youth. It is almost impossible for "Fifty" to judge "Twenty-One" impartially, first because they don't see life itself from the samo standpoint. "One generation can never be judged by another because the whole atmosphere and mode of living changes so vastly in 30 years. We must each work our passages through life independently. "I am positive the modern young man works a great deal harder than his predecessors, because the job of making money is such an absolute necessity nowadays, she continues. "I admire him for his talent, artistic and literary; his ability to create a name for himself by pure originality alone. Most especially I admire him for the splendid way he worked during the general strike, and for the quiet, peaceful way he carried things on, while disaster was so close at hand. Age has Youth very largely to thank for the removal of all that confusion and turmoil.
