TEMPERANCE UNION.
On Monday evening a successful home meeting was held at the residence of Mrs. Kasper, of Turner Street, in connection with the Young People's Christian Temperanco Union. Miss Ivy Johnson presided.
Solo'i were sung by Mrs. Kasper and the Misses Evans and McCulley; a pianoforte solo was given by Miss E. Raw and a recitation by Miss E. Geary. Mrs. Lee Cowie was the speaker of the evening and after giving many reminiscences of her childhood days, she spoke in glowing .terms of the work of Lady Henry Somerset, Miss Frances Willard, and Mr. Raper for the temperance movement. Miss Ryle recorded a vote of thanks to Mrs. Kasper for the use of her homo and to all those who had helped to mako tho evening such a pleasant one. Two new members were initiated and the meeting closed with tho " Benediction."
