TAKAPUNA BOROUGH.
COLLECTION OF RATES
The Taknpuna Borough Council met last evening, the Mayor, Mr J. W. Wil-
liamson, presiding. The No. 2 Licensing Authority advised that complaints had been received that buses passing through t.ho' borough were being overcrowded, and asked that the Takapuna inspector should co-operate with tho Devonport inspector to prevent tins. The inspector was instructed to supervise the running of all bus traffic m the borough as requested, and to report to the council. It was decided to expend £3OO on Milford Road, between Kitchener Road and Ultimata Road. The engineer reported that the estimated cost of blinding Milford Road was £225, and that £355 would t)o required to seal a 15ft. strip for the whole length of the road. The engineer was instructed to report to the Works Committee upon the site and design of a suitable shelter in Rcwhiti Avenue.
'I lie Takapuna Surf Club was granted permission to patrol the Takapuna Bead) during the coming summer and to flag it if necessary.
The clerk reported that yesterday was Ihe last day for the rebate on rales, and that £23,000, representing 52.77 per cent of the cum nt year's rales, had been paid. The hank overdraft on October 1 was £1 7 .500, hut the council now had a credit balance of £2956.
I'lto disf-ict telegraph engineer advised that it was proposed to instal a public telephone booth at Belmont in the near future.
Ihe St John Ambulance was granted permission o hold a street collection tomorrow. •
