BURGLARY AT AVONDALE
RAILWAY STATION ENTERED. EXPLOSIVES USED ON SAFE. SMALL SUM OF MONEY TAKEN. Burglars entered the railway station at Avondale sonio time between midnight 611 Saturday and seven o'clock yesterday morning and used explosives to force the door of the safe. The thieves secured £2 lis in silver and copper. The burglary was discovered by a. member of the station staff yesterday morning, who found evidence that the intruders had gained entry to the building by forcing oue of the windows. The safe, which was built into the wall and encased in concrete, was badly damaged by the force of tho explosion, the doc* being forced out of position and th% casing completely wrecked. The damage to tho safe is estimated at £lO.
