GENERAL ELECTION.
THE TAURANGA SEAT. (BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] MATAMATA. Saturday. Up to the present there are no fewer than five " probables" in the Liberal and Liberal-Labour interests for the general election, namely, Messrs. R. Coulter, Laurence Johnstone, Robert King, W. C. Kennedy and B. C. Robbins. A recent Liberal meeting at Matamata appointed Messrs. J. Pohlen and John Buchanan as delegates to a proposed conference with delegates to be appointed from the Tauranga side of the ranges. Mr. R. Coulter, of Te Aroha, announced as a Liberal, has been spending a few clays in the Matamata district. Interviewed, he expressed his determination to " carry on." Mr. Laurence Johnstone is also busy, and is arranging for meetings 011 this side of the range. THE CLTJTHA ELECTORATE. REFORM NOMINEE. [by telegraph. —rRESS association.] DUNEDIN, Sunday. Mr. Fred Waite, who was a major in the Expeditionary Force, has accepted nomination as the Reform candidate for the Clutha electorate. WELLINGTON NORTH. SIR JOHN LUKE TO STAND. [fjr TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION'.] WELLINGTON. Sunday. Sir John Luke, the sitting member for Wellington North, will contest the seat at the general election.
