DAIRY PRODUCE PRICES.

LONDON MARKET FIRMER. NEW ZEALAND BUTTER UP. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Heed. 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, June 18. The butter market is firm, with good demand. New Zealand choicest, salted, is quoted at 180s to 182s; unsalted at 188s to 190s. Australian salted is quoted at 174s to 176s and unsalted at 178s to 180s. Danish is quoted at 1925. Cheese is firm. New Zealand is quoted at 100s and Australian at nominally 955. In spite of the fact that stocks of butter in cold storage are very heavy, and arrivals of Australian and New Zealand continue to bo large, there has been a good demand lately, with hardening prices. Three weeks of ho{, weather have curtailed both home and Continental supplies and buyers have apparently come to the conclusion that there is little prospect of prices going lower. Consequently they have come on the market and purchased freely. The hot weather has also had a good effect on the cheese market, for the consumption of cheese always rises with the temperature. As prospective arrivals are small, ihe outlook is decidedly favourable. Last week's report stated: —The butter market is firm with a good demand, apparently due to the extremely hot weather and the prospect of continuance, which is causing some talk about the prospect of a drought. This is making retailers anxious regarding their stocks, despite the fact that a large quantity of butter is in store, and that curront arrivals arc still considerably exceeding the consumption. New Zealand choicest, salted, is ]noted at 178s to 180s; exceptionally choice, 184s; 186s. Australian salted is quoted at 170s to 1745; unsalted, 178s to 180s. Danish butter h:.s been arriving in plentiful quantities since the cessation of the strike; it is worth about 188s. Cheese is firm. New Zealand, 97s to 98s; Australian has been temporarily cleared.
