"WELL DONE NORWAY."
AMUNDSEN'S DISCOVERIES. NO INDICATIONS OF LAND. A. and Jv.Z. OSLO, June 19. The service ship Heimdal has left Kings Bay, Spitzbergen, for Lady Franklin's Bay to recover Captain Amundsen's abandoned aeroplane, N25. The Prime Minister, M. J. M. Mowinckel, has received a cablegram from Captain Amundsen saying he snrveyed 160,000 square kilometres in the polar regions. He did not discover indications of land. The casting of the lead in his northernmost latitude gave 3750 metres. This led Captain Amundsen to the supposition that no land exists in the Norwegian sector of the polar basin. The British Minister to Norway, the Hon. F. O. Lindley, has telegraphed to Captain Amundsen, saying; "Well done, old Norway."
